Bernard Shaw once said, “There are two tragedies in life. One is not to get your heart’s desire. The other is to get it."

我曾经深以为然，并且佩服他把人生的可悲境遇表述得如此轻松俏皮。

With it I couldn’t agree more. I did admire him for his easy and humorous way in describing the quandary（困惑、迷惑、为难、窘境） of life.

但仔细玩味，发现这话的立足点仍是占有，所以才会有占有欲未得满足的痛苦和已得满足的无聊这双重悲剧。

However, a deep ponder over it has brought home to me that Shaw’s standpoint is no other than "possessing", which keeps us stranded in a double dosage（剂量、用量） tragedy of life: it' s a pain not to possess your heart' s desire, and a tedium（单调乏味、沉闷）, to have possessed it.

如果把立足点移到创造上，以审美的眼光看人生，我们岂不可以反其意而说：人生有两大快乐，一是没有得到你心爱的东西，于是你可以去寻求和创造；另一是得到了你心爱的东西，于是你可以去品味和体验?

However, if we shift the standpoint from "possessing" to "creating", and look at life with an esthetic eye, we can interpret Shaw’s words the other way round: there are two comedies in life. One is not to get your heart’s desire, so you still have the opportunity to seek or create it. The other is to get your heart’s desire, and then you are able to enjoy tasting or experiencing it.
